Manifesto
My vision is to uphold a financial system within the Student Union Government where resources are properly received, securely kept, responsibly disbursed, accurately documented, and transparently accounted for. If given the mandate to serve, my commitments will include: *1. TIMELY & SECURE BANKING* I will ensure that all Union monies received are deposited into the Union's account within the constitutionally stipulated 48-hour period, while maintaining proper records of such transactions. *2. RESPONSIBLE DISBURSEMENT* I will ensure that approved expenditures are properly and responsibly disbursed in accordance with due process and the decisions of the appropriate Union authorities. *3. ACCURATE FINANCIAL DOCUMENTATION* I will maintain proper custody of receipts, payment vouchers, account balances, and other relevant financial documents, ensuring that transactions are properly recorded and easily verifiable. *4. REGULAR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY* I will uphold timely submission of receipts, payment vouchers, and account balances to the Executive Council as required by the Constitution, ensuring that the Union's financial activities remain subject to proper oversight. *5. TRANSPARENCY IN STEWARDSHIP* I will promote a culture where financial responsibility is not hidden behind bureaucracy. Within the limits of my office and the Constitution, I will support appropriate financial reporting and accountability so that students can have confidence in how their Union's resources are managed. *6. PROPER CUSTODY OF UNION FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS* I will exercise the responsibility entrusted to the Treasurer in safeguarding the Union's cheque book and other banking documents and ensure that they are properly handed over at the expiration of my tenure. *7. PRUDENT MANAGEMENT* I will approach every financial responsibility with prudence and discipline. Available resources must be handled with purpose, not impulse, and every approved expenditure must be treated with the seriousness that public funds deserve. *8. ACCOUNTABILITY BEYOND TENURE* My commitment to accountability will not end when my tenure does. I will ensure that relevant financial records and documents are properly maintained and that the transition to the next administration is conducted with clarity, completeness, and transparency. MY VISION I envision an SUG treasury built on three fundamental principles: TRANSPARENCY. ACCOUNTABILITY. STEWARDSHIP. A Treasury where records can be verified, transactions can be traced, resources can be accounted for, I am not seeking this office merely to occupy a position.
