My name is Allen Alex-Nmecha and I am a proud son of Obio-Akpor LGA, Rumuekini precisely. I stand for fairness, justice and hope for all students. I am a passionate leader who wants the well being of all students. I believe that the students Union is the voice of the students.

STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT UNIVERSITY OF PORTHARCOURT MANIFESTO FOR THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT CANDIDATE: ALLEN ALEX NMECHA FACULTY: LAW “The Union is the voice of the students” DECLARATION OF INTENT ASPIRING FOR THE OFFICE OF STUDENTS’ UNION GOVERNMENT PRESIDENT TO MY FELLOW STUDENTS,COMRADES, AND GREAT NIGERIAN STUDENTS, I stand before you today with humility, courage, and a clear sense of purpose. My name is Allen Alex-Nmecha, a 300 level student of the faculty of law. I am officially declaring my intention to serve as your next Students’ Union Government President. This decision is not about ambition for a title. It is about a responsibility. It is about building a Students’ Union that is present when students need it, vocal when their interests are threatened, and deliberate about creating opportunities for the future. WHY I AM STEPPING FORWARD For too long, students have had concerns that deserve more attention. Issues surrounding welfare, academics, accommodation, transportation, communication, student representation, and opportunities continue to affect our university experience. I believe student leadership must be more than occupying an office. Leadership must be visible, Leadership must be accessible, Leadership must produce results. Leadership is continuity of government. That is the kind of leadership I am offering. To achieve this, I will prioritize the following: -Hostel-wide Wi-Fi access: I will work with the appropriate school authorities and relevant stakeholders to ensure that all hostels are provided with reliable and accessible Wi-Fi. Thereby supporting academic research, online learning and effective communication. -Improved walkway coverage: I will ensure the proper covering and maintenance of major school walkways in order to protect students from harsh weather conditions and promote safety across the campus. -Creation of more hostels for the students: I plan to collaborate with the school authorities to provide more hostels for the benefits of the students. As an attachment to this, the current hostels that are looking dilapidated will be renovated example NDDC hostel. For all hostels water will be made to run to the highest floor to ensure a comfortable living for all students. -Advert screens: I plan to provide electronic advert screens at strategic points in school to promote student businesses. This is just a glimpse of the plans which my administration will strive to achieve and deliver for the welfare of every student. MY PROMISE I will not promise perfection. I will promise commitment. I will not tell you that every problem will disappear overnight. I will promise to listen, engage, advocate, and pursue solutions. I will not ask you to vote for me because I want an office. I am asking you to trust me with a responsibility. A responsibility to represent you. A responsibility to speak when your voice needs amplification. A responsibility to stand for what is right. A responsibility to make the Students’ Union more responsive to the people it exists to serve. INCLUSIVITY I will make sure every ethnic house or bloc is represented and supported in the Union. I will make sure every faculty is represented and supported in the Union thereby holding periodic meetings with the faculty presidents to know the needs of their respective faculties. I will make sure all special needs students are given equal treatments. LEGACY PROJECT Building a “UNIQUE UNIPORT GYM”. This is a project which was thought about because of the fact that our dear school is known to be an entrepreneurial university. With the provision of a unique UNIPORT gym the large amount of students who leave the school premises to go and get fit thereby spending high amounts will be reduced. This project will promote students safety and improve the physical health of students. THE CHOICE IS OURS This election is bigger than one individual. It is about the kind of Students’ Union we want. A Union that works. A Union that listens. A Union that represents. A Union that creates opportunities. A Union that belongs to every student. I respectfully ask for your support, your prayers, your partnership, and ultimately, your vote. Let us move from promises to purpose. From representation to results. From leadership to service.
