Manifesto

MANIFESTO AWOLAYEOFORI TAMUNOKURO GEORGE ASPIRANT FOR THE OFFICE OF SUG SECRETARY GENERAL UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT “A Voice That Connects, A Secretary Who Serves.” Fellow students of the University of Port Harcourt, I, Comrade Awolayeofori Tamunokuro Tein George, humbly present myself as an aspirant for the office of SUG Secretary-General. I am not seeking this position merely for the title or recognition. I am seeking it because I believe that the Secretary-General should be a bridge between the students, the Students’ Union Government, and the university community. Leadership, to me, is about service, responsibility, communication, accountability, and representation. MY VISION My vision is to contribute to an SUG administration where students are properly informed, their concerns are documented and communicated, and the affairs of the Union are conducted with transparency and responsibility. MY PRIORITIES 1. EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION I will promote timely and accurate dissemination of important information from the SUG to students. Students should not have to struggle to know about important meetings, programmes, opportunities, policies, or decisions that concern them. 2. TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY I will support proper documentation and communication of SUG activities, meetings, decisions, and resolutions in accordance with the constitution and established procedures. An accountable Union is a trustworthy Union. 3. STUDENT REPRESENTATION I will encourage students to communicate their concerns through proper channels and ensure that relevant issues are properly documented and presented to the appropriate authorities. Every student deserves to feel heard. 4. ACCESSIBILITY I intend to make the office of the Secretary-General approachable and accessible. The office should not be seen as distant from the students. It should be an office where students can seek information, clarification, and proper direction. 5. PROPER RECORD KEEPING As Secretary-General, I will take seriously the responsibility of maintaining accurate records of meetings, correspondence, resolutions, and other official documents entrusted to the office. Good records create continuity and strengthen institutional memory. 6. STUDENT INFORMATION AND AWARENESS I will advocate for better awareness of student opportunities, academic-related information, SUG programmes, and other matters that directly affect students. Information is power, and every student deserves access to relevant information. 7. COLLABORATION I will work with other SUG officers, faculty and departmental representatives, student organizations, and relevant stakeholders to promote unity and effective student representation. Leadership should not be about one person. It should be about teamwork. MY COMMITMENT If given the opportunity to serve, I promise to approach the office with humility, diligence, discipline, respect, and integrity. I will listen before I speak, document before I forget, communicate before confusion grows, and serve without discrimination. I do not promise perfection. I promise commitment. I do not promise to solve every problem alone. I promise to listen, communicate, collaborate, and pursue solutions. CONCLUSION Fellow Greats, This election is not simply about choosing a name. It is about choosing the kind of representation we want. Let us choose effective communication. Let us choose accountability. Let us choose accessibility. Let us choose responsible leadership. I am Awolayeofori Tamunokuro George, and I am ready to serve. Awolayeofori Tamunokuro George for SUG Secretary-General. A Voice That Connects. A Secretary Who Serves. A Leadership That Listen.
