It was a regular afternoon in my first year. I was sitting in the cafeteria, feeling invisible. I was a new student. I didn't know anyone. I felt small. I felt like just another face in a sea of thousands. Then something happened. A student stood up on a table and started speaking. He was not a politician. He was not a celebrity. He was just a student who had decided that he had something to say. He was speaking about the struggles of students. He was speaking about the need for change. He was speaking with such passion that everyone stopped eating and started listening. In that moment, I realized something powerful. I realized that I had a voice too. I realized that I didn't have to be invisible. I realized that I could stand up and speak, and people would listen. That moment planted a seed in my heart. My name is CHUKWUNDA KING CHIBUEZE. I am ready to lead. I am ready to serve. I am ready to help you find your voice. Together, we will build a Union of service, unity, and progress. EXPERIENCE THAT BUILT CAPACITY I did not arrive at this moment by chance. My journey has been one of progressive service, learning, and responsibility. From serving as Course Representative, where I learned to listen, represent students, and solve problems at the grassroots, to serving as Senator, where I gained experience in legislation, advocacy, and institutional decision-making, every office has prepared me for greater responsibility. I have also served in leadership several positions, giving me experience in student welfare, mental health advocacy, administration, coordination, and stakeholder engagement. These experiences have taught me the skills leadership demands: listening, representation, advocacy, legislation, administration, collaboration, diplomacy, and problem-solving. I am therefore not running for President simply because I want the position. I am running because I have spent years preparing for the responsibility. My record shows that I have served. My experience shows that I have learned. And my vision shows that I am ready to lead. THE FOUR PILLARS OF LEADERSHIP Fellow students, Now that you know where I come from and why I am qualified, let me tell you where I want to take us. I have a vision. A vision for a Union that serves every student. A vision for a Union that unites every student. A vision for a Union that creates opportunities for every student. This vision is built on four pillars. Four pillars that will guide everything I do as your President. Let me share them with you. 1. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND STUDENT SUCCESS 2. STUDENTS' WELFARE AND QUALITY OF LIFE 3. TRANSPARENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND GOOD GOVERNANCE 4. UNITY AND INCLUSIVITY THE THREE STANDING COMMITTEES Fellow students, Beyond my Implementation, and Coordination. I will establish three Students Union Government standing committees. These committees will be permanent structures that will serve students long after my administration ends. They will be enshrined in the Constitution. Let me introduce them to you. 1. THE PUBLIC HEALTH COMMITTEE 2. PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGE COMMITTEE 3. THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TASK FORCE COMMITTEE MY PERSONAL PROMISES TO STUDENTS Fellow students, beyond the policies and initiatives, I want to make personal promises to you. 1. I promise to be accessible. I will not be a President who is locked away in an office. You will see me in the hostels, in the faculties, in the parks. I will be among you. I will listen to you. 2. I promise to be transparent. I will not hide information from you. You will know everything that is happening in the Union. You will know how your money is spent. You will know what decisions are being made. 3. I promise to be accountable. If I fail you, you can hold me accountable. You can question me. You can challenge me. I am not above the Constitution. I am subject to it. 4. I promise to be fair. I will not play favorites. I will not discriminate. I will treat every student equally. Every student matters. Every student deserves to be heard. 5. I promise to be courageous. I will not back down when students' rights are threatened. I will not be intimidated by power. I will speak truth to power. I will fight for you. 6. I promise to be visionary. I will not think only about today. I will think about the future. I will build systems that will outlast my administration. I will leave a legacy. I promise to be your President. Not above you. Not separate from you. With you. For you. Among you. MY CLOSING STATEMENT Fellow students, the choice before you is clear. You can choose a candidate who will give you empty promises and disappear after the election. Or you can choose a candidate who has proven his commitment to service, who understands the Union's structures, and who has a clear plan for progress. You have the power to choose a President who has walked the path. From Course Representative, understanding your struggles at the grassroots level. To Student Barrister, defending your rights under the Constitution. To Senator, legislating for your welfare. To Deputy Coordinator of SPAN, advocating for your mental health. To Secretary General of NURSS, coordinating large-scale student movements. To Chief of Staff of NUOBAS, managing complex organizations. You have the power to choose a President who has a plan. I will always put students first. Every decision I make will prioritize the welfare and interests of students. 3. I will be transparent, accountable, and accessible. You will know everything. You will have access to me. You will hold me accountable. 4. I will fight for your rights without fear or favor. I will not be intimidated by power. I will not be compromised by influence. 5.
