Manifesto
My name is Collins Emmanuel Mooseph, a 300-level student from the department of computer science, faculty of Computing, aspiring for the position of assistant secretary general. I am coming with a commitment to serve, to listen, to support the administration, and to contribute my time and energy toward making our organization better. I believe that every member deserves to feel that they belong and that their voice matters. I also believe that a good administration should not only be seen during elections or major events. Its impact should be felt in the everyday activities of the organization. If given the opportunity to serve, I will do my best to make the office of the Assistant Secretary General a productive, approachable, and dependable office By ensuring the following happens 1. BETTER COMMUNICATION One of the biggest things any organization needs is good communication. Sometimes, information does not reach everyone on time. At other times, members may not know who to approach when they have questions or concern. As Assistant Secretary General, I will work closely with the Secretary General and other executives to ensure that important information is communicated clearly and on time. 2. A LEADERSHIP THAT LISTENS I do not believe that leadership should be one-sided. I will therefore encourage members to share their ideas and concerns. Whether the issue is big or small, I will be willing to listen and, where possible, help direct it to the appropriate person or office. I may not always have an immediate solution to every problem. 3. PROPER DOCUMENTATION AND ORGANIZATION The Assistant Secretary General has an important role to play in keeping the organization organized. Meetings, decisions, activities, correspondence, and important information should not simply disappear after an administration ends. I will support proper documentation and record keeping so that important information can be easily accessed when needed. I want us to have an administration that leaves behind not just memories, but proper records and useful structures for those coming after me. 4. SUPPORTING THE SECRETARY GENERAL AND THE EXECUTIVE I understand that the position of Assistant Secretary General is fundamentally a position of support. If elected, I will work closely with the Secretary General and the entire executive team. I will assist with planning meetings, coordinating activities, following up on decisions, preparing documents, and carrying out responsibilities assigned to my office. I will not see my position as a competition with anyone. Rather, I will see it as an opportunity to work with others toward one common goal. 5. PROMOTING UNITY We may have different opinions, backgrounds, personalities, and interests, but we are still members of one organization. I believe we should be able to disagree without becoming enemies and compete without creating unnecessary divisions. 6. ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY I believe that anyone who asks for your vote must also be willing to be accountable to you. If elected, I will take the responsibilities of this office seriously. I will not promise perfection because I am human and I can make mistakes. But I can promise to acknowledge my mistakes, learn from them, and continue working. I will also respect the rules and decisions of the organization and work within the responsibilities assigned to my office. For me, leadership is about doing what is right even when it is not the easiest thing to do. 7. CREATING CONTINUITY Every administration should leave something useful for the next one. Too often, new leaders come into office without enough information about what previous leaders did. This makes it difficult to continue successful projects.I will support proper handover and documentation so that future executives can understand what has been achieved, what challenges were faced, and what still needs to be done. Our organization should not move in circles. We should build on what already exists and continue moving forward. As Assistant Secretary General, I will encourage cooperation and mutual respect among members.I will support initiatives that can help members develop useful skills in areas such as: - Leadership - Communication - Teamwork - Public speaking - Academic development - Career and professional development - Networking
