Manifesto

A MANIFESTO BY NWACHUKWU WEALTH CHIKEZIRI FOR THE OFFICE OF SUG JUDGE, UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT INTRODUCTION Leadership is not about occupying a position; it is about serving others with responsibility, fairness, and integrity. I am Comrade, Nwachukwu Wealth Chikeziri, and I present myself for the office of SUG Judge because I believe every student deserves fairness, a voice, and access to justice. I previously served as the Assistant Class Representative of my class, where I gained practical experience in communication, representation, and serving the interests of my fellow students. I stepped down from the position to focus on this election and my aspiration to serve the wider student body. Having served as a Barrister, I have gained valuable experience in advocacy, representation, fairness, and the importance of due process. This experience has strengthened my understanding of the responsibility that comes with seeking justice and representing the interests of others. I am seeking this office not for the title, but to contribute to a Judiciary that is fair, impartial, accessible, disciplined, and guided by the SUG Constitution. My commitment is simple: To listen fairly. To interpret responsibly. To decide impartially. To serve with integrity. VISION I envision an SUG Judiciary that is: * Fair and impartial * Independent and responsible * Accessible to students * Guided by the Constitution * Committed to due process A Judiciary where every student is treated equally, regardless of friendship, popularity, position, or influence. CHALLENGES AND MY APPROACH 1. LIMITED CONSTITUTIONAL AWARENESS Many students are unfamiliar with their rights and the SUG Constitution. My approach: I will encourage simple and accessible constitutional awareness so students understand their rights, responsibilities, and available channels for resolving disputes. 2. LIMITED ACCESS TO THE JUDICIARY Some students may not understand how or when to approach the Judiciary. My approach: I will support clearer communication about the Judiciary’s role, jurisdiction, and procedures. 3. FEAR OF BIAS Students must trust that judicial matters will be handled fairly. My approach: I will remain impartial and base decisions on the Constitution, facts, applicable rules, and due process, not friendship, popularity, or pressure. 4. DELAYED RESOLUTION OF MATTERS Unnecessary delays can weaken confidence in the judicial process. My approach: I will encourage proper organization, documentation, scheduling, and adherence to established procedures. 5. LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THE PROCESS The Judiciary must earn the confidence of the students. My approach: I will uphold professionalism, dignity, independence, and integrity in the discharge of my responsibilities. MY CORE PILLARS 1. JUSTICE & IMPARTIALITY Every party deserves a fair opportunity to be heard. 2. CONSTITUTIONALISM The SUG Constitution must remain the foundation of student governance. No individual should be above it. 3. DUE PROCESS & STUDENTS’ RIGHTS Every student deserves a fair hearing and a process that respects their rights. 4. ACCESSIBLE JUDICIARY Students should understand where to seek judicial intervention and how the process works. 5. JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE I will allow the Constitution, law, facts, and principles of justice to guide decisions—not political or personal pressure. 6. INTEGRITY & PROFESSIONALISM I will approach the office with discipline, maturity, fairness, and respect for every student. MY LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY I believe leadership is service before status. I stand for: Fairness without favour. Firmness without arrogance. Justice without intimidation. I will listen before deciding, consider before concluding, and remain guided by the Constitution. WHAT I STAND FOR The Constitution matters. Due process matters. Students’ rights matter. Fairness matters. Integrity matters. Justice matters. CONCLUSION This election is not simply about choosing a name on a ballot. It is about choosing the kind of Judiciary we want. A Judiciary that respects the Constitution. A Judiciary that gives students a fair hearing. A Judiciary that protects the integrity of the judicial process. A Judiciary that students can trust. I am Wealth Nwachukwu, and I am ready to serve. I am not asking you to vote for me because I promise to favour you. I am asking you to vote for me because I am committed to fairly serving you. Not above the law. Not beneath anyone. But committed to justice. WEALTH FOR SUG JUDGE ⚖️💚 FAIRNESS • INTEGRITY • JUSTICE • SERVICE LET WEALTH SPEAK.
