Biography
I am Comr. Victor Iniobong Akpan, a student leader, communicator, and creative strategist with strong experience in entertainment and student leadership. I am the Pioneer Director of Socials of my Faculty and the Immediate Past President of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies. I also served twice as a member of the Committee of Socials and SUG Week Planning Committee during the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 sessions. I have worked with notable brands and personalities including Minimie, Spotify, Malta Guinness, Ibile Lifestyle, Big Bimi, Basketmouth, Kenny Blaq, Brain Jotter, Danny Spry, and De9ja Spirit Talent Hunt (DTH), among others. With my leadership experience, industry exposure, networks, and creativity, I am prepared to bring innovation, opportunities, quality entertainment, and a vibrant social experience to the University of Port Harcourt as Director of Socials, SUG.
Manifesto
Comr. Victor Iniobong Akpan Aspiring Director of Socials, Students’ Union Government (SUG), University of Port Harcourt THE PEOPLE FIRST. THE VIBE RETURNS. Fellow students of the University of Port Harcourt, I am presenting myself for the office of Director of Socials, Students’ Union Government, not merely to occupy a position, but to serve, represent, and create memorable experiences for the entire student community. I believe the office of Director of Socials should be more than entertainment. It should be a platform for unity, creativity, talent discovery, student engagement, and positive campus experiences. MY AGENDA 1. Quality and Inclusive Social Events I will work to organize engaging social activities that bring students together across faculties, departments, levels, and backgrounds. 2. Talent Discovery and Promotion I will create opportunities for students with talents in music, comedy, dance, fashion, content creation, spoken word, sports entertainment, and other creative fields to showcase themselves. 3. Student-Friendly Entertainment I will promote affordable and accessible social events, ensuring that students can participate without unnecessary financial burdens. 4. Inter-Faculty Social Activities I will encourage competitions, social games, cultural activities, and entertainment programs that strengthen friendship and unity among faculties. 5. Support for Student Creatives I will build stronger platforms for student DJs, artists, MCs, photographers, designers, dancers, comedians, and content creators to gain visibility. 6. Better Communication and Engagement I will ensure that students are properly informed about SUG social activities and have opportunities to contribute ideas about the kind of events they want. 7. A Vibrant Campus Experience My goal is to contribute to a campus environment where students can learn, connect, relax, express themselves, and create lasting memories. MY PROMISE I cannot promise perfection, but I can promise commitment, accessibility, creativity, accountability, and service. This campaign is not just about me.
